The junk problem

Don't you hate all that mail you never asked for?

Spam filters, Promotions tabs, unsubscribe links, cleanup apps. There are plenty of systems, and most of them guess, ask nicely, or quietly stop working by Thursday.

The usual tricks

  • You click unsubscribe. The sender says sorry to see you go, and keeps writing anyway.
  • A filter guesses for you. The newsletter gets in, and the invoice you were waiting for goes missing.
  • You block a sender in one account, then do it all over again in the next one.
  • Every morning starts with scrolling past it all to find the one mail from a real person.

The HuginMail way

  • People first. Mail from people you've written to, or sent only to you, lands in Important. Newsletters, no-reply robots and bulk mail wait in The rest, which tidies itself away after 14 days.
  • Unsubscribe that actually works. ⇧U doesn't ask the sender for anything. From then on their mail skips your inbox, already read.
  • One question per new sender. Keep, Not for me, or Block. Blocked senders go straight to Spam, on every account and every device, for good.
  • Never a mystery. Every mail says why it's where it is, and one tap moves it, and the sender, where they belong.

Most systems don't really work. Well, this one does.

And Gmail's own spam filter still runs underneath, so the obvious rubbish never even gets close.

Two lanes

Important up top. The rest waits patiently below and tidies itself away after 14 days.

Instant and undoable

Complete, snooze, block. Every move happens at once and takes back with one tap. Oops is a perfectly good workflow.

A key for everything

On the Mac: e complete, h snooze, r reply all, ⌘K for the rest.

Every account, one list

Work, home and the side project together. A thin coloured edge says which inbox each mail came to.

Snooze and send later

Not today? Back tomorrow morning. Write at midnight, deliver at a respectable 08:00.

Search that digs deep

Finds what's on your device in a blink, then asks Gmail for the rest. Even that mail from 2014 about the boat.

On the Mac

Fly through your mail.

No sidebar, no clutter: your list on the left, the thread on the right, and a key for every single thing. Animations explain each move and never make you wait for the next one.

Why the name
Hugin is Odin's raven. Each morning he flies out over the world, and each evening he comes back with everything that happened.

HuginMail does the same for your inboxes. It flies out to every account, brings it all home, and sets the important bits on top. Unlike the raven, it never drops anything on the way.

Security

Your data. Not ours.

We can't read your mail, and that's not a policy, it's how HuginMail is built. Your mail and the keys to it live on your own devices. Our server only helps them find each other.

If someone broke into our server tomorrow, they'd find email addresses and scrambled data. No mail, no Google keys, no settings they can read.

You sign in on Google's own page, right on your device. A new phone or Mac gets your keys from one you already have, with a code you scan, and the full code never reaches our server.

Promises

Your mail, treated kindly.

It never deletes mail

Done means filed, not gone. HuginMail completes, moves and tags. It has no delete button to regret.

Mail stays on your device

Your messages travel straight between Gmail and your Mac or phone. No server in the middle reads them.
